Created by Charlotte Perriand in 1985 as a single piece for the retrospective exhibition that the Musée des Arts-Décoratifs dedicated to her career, this table’s simplicity of form is presented in close relation to the design of the wool rug that accompanies it. The unique characteristics provided by the permutation of compositional elements is based on a geometric system of combinations that further enhances the clean-honed, primary forms of the table, which appears to be suspended: a sculptural, visually dynamic form, the fulcrum and source of an atmospheric space that invites convivial enjoyment.
