Cotone, a collection of products united by a strong sense of contemporary design. Essential design extended to a family of products. Following the Bouroullec brothers’ debut last year with the Cotone small dining armchair, the two designers have developed a Cotone collection to include a table, a wooden chair and a slimmer version of the dining chair. The components of the collection all have the same distinctive extruded aluminium frame characterised by sophisticated industrial details which means that they can be freely combined based on one’s tastes and requirements. Aluminium, an element of the future. The choice to focus this project on a light and malleable metal like aluminium reflects how Cassina carries out its industrial role in the furniture industry. A more modern material compared to other metals, it has an elegant appearane making it particularly aesthetically appealing. Produced in the Cassina carpentry workshop with advanced numerical control machines, the solid ash wood seat and backrest of the Cotone Legno combine with its aluminium base to create a highly contemporary chair. A minimal design, its anodised frame, in the same selection of colours as the rest of the family, sharply contrasts with the stained black ash wood elements, while the varnished black version makes for a more sophisticated option.
